Ponderings & Pontifications of the Pastor

Christ is Risen! He is Risen indeed!

In the midst of this joyous Easter season, we begin this new month of May with the traditional May Crowning! Dedicating this month to our most Blessed Mother, we give thanks to God for the gift of so great an advocate, protector, and intercessor. Our annual May Crowning will take place today, after the 9am Mass (weather permitting) in the outdoor grotto. Please come and join us for this beautiful devotion! Also, be on the lookout for more information in the bulletin about upcoming Marian devotions sponsored by our Altar & Rosary Society and our Legion of Mary.

Two other events to highlight in the coming weeks; one this week, and one towards the end of the month. First, on this Thursday, May 5th, there will be a movie night in the Fr. Cotter Hall at 7:15pm. The movies being shown talk about the beauty of our faith, reflected in various Eucharistic miracles, as well as the relationship between science and faith. Come and join us for an evening of inspiration and fellowship.

The second event is a Blood Drive, sponsored by Connect Life, on Saturday, May 28th in the Fr. Cotter Hall. This blood drive will be from 10am until 3pm. If you are able, please consider making the effort to come and give a donation. We are often reminded that the need for blood is constant, especially here in our own community of Western New York. Did you know that just 1 pint of blood can save up to 3 lives? Once again, please come out and join us for this important event on Saturday, May 28th!

Finally, many of you have probably received a letter in the mail from me about the need for serious roof repairs. I understand that, as a parish, we are constantly asking you for donations of all sorts. We have many fundraisers for different groups, parish organizations, and just for the parish itself. Unfortunately, it is a reality of parish life (no matter how big or small) that fundraising happens almost nonstop. However, I do ask each and every one of you, to consider supporting this very necessary work. As a parish with multiple buildings on our grounds, we have a constant need to keep up the property that we have. It is certainly necessary to maintain our facilities, not just for our own current usage, but for future generations as well. Once again, please consider donating for our roof repair efforts, and for those of you who have already given what you can…THANK YOU very, very much!

Our Lady of Perpetual Help…pray for us!

May the heart of Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacrament, be praised, adored, and loved, with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time. Amen.
