In his Apostolic Exhortation on the Eucharist, “Sacramentum Caritatis,” Pope Benedict XVI tells us that The Eucharist is the “Source and Summit of the Church’s life and mission. As Catholics, our faith is nourished at the table of the Eucharist.” The Eucharist is Jesus, it is God with us, it is food for the journey. Preparing to receive Jesus through the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time is an exciting time, it is a time for focusing on Jesus and on the faith into which they were Baptized. To prepare for First Eucharist, students must register in the family faith formation program. In addition, Sacramental preparation will be enhanced by required attendance in sacramental programs prior to the reception of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. These sessions will take place on Saturday mornings and will also include a parent/child retreat to further enhance the family bond strengthened through the Sacraments and life in the church.
