Fatima series by the Blessed Sacrament Legion of Mary Part 7 Jesus wants us to establish devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the world, and that her Immaculate Heart is the refuge of suffering souls and the path that leads to heaven. At Fatima, Mary promised the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Another way to show devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is to practice the virtue of chastity over sensuality. All baptized are called to chastity. This virtue is a gift from God. Those who practice chastity make our bodies subjected to the laws of God. It requires self mastery over the body. We practice chastity based on where we our in our lives. If unmarried, you are called to be abstinent. If married, you are called to fidelity. And some people profess virginity and celibacy . Sensuality is the opposite of chastity. It goes against God’s law. When left unrestrained it leads to lust. In today’s culture, we are subjected to obscene and vulgar advertisements, movies, magazines and television. We are exposed to images of sex, violence and vanity. These images draw our minds toward sinful thoughts. To combat sensuality we must call on the Holy Spirit through prayer and practice chastity. Sacred images of Mary can help us to draw our focus toward heaven. If we want to have a strong bond with Mary. We must keep close to her. Bring Mary before our eyes daily by placing sacred images or statues in our homes, vehicle or workplace. Choose chastity over sensuality. |
Fatima series by the Blessed Sacrament Legion of Mary Part 8… Jesus wants us to establish devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary to the world and that her Immaculate Heart is the refuge of suffering souls and the path that leads to heaven. July 16th is the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In the late 14th century, St. Simon Stock had a vision of Mary in which she gave him a brown scapular. On the scapular it reads: Behold the Sign of Salvation, Who so ever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire. Our Lady’s Scapular Promise. The Brown Scapular is an external sign of the loving relationship between the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Mount Carmel and the faithful who entrust themselves totally to her protection and who have recourse to her maternal intersession. It helps us to imitate her virtues of humility, chastity and to pray the Rosary. The Brown Scapular is blessed by a Priest. Those who wear the scapular are encouraged to be enrolled by a Priest. At Fatima, at the very end of the Miracle of the Sun on October 13, 1917, Our Lady of Mount Carmel appeared. Our Lady of Mount Carmel was a title claimed by Mary at Fatima. As the 13th of the month of July is approaching, we pray the Rosary as Mary has asked us at Fatima. Please join the Legion of Mary as we continue our devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. If you want to receive the Scapular promises, considering wearing the Brown Scapular and becoming enrolled. Contact the office and the Legion of Mary will assist you. |
