A TRIBUTE TO MSGR. LEO McCARTHY 1933-2023

How does one find the words to describe a genuine, trustworthy and Christ-centered priest like Msgr. Leo McCarthy, who whole-heartedly served the Lord for the past 64 years. For all of us who knew Father Leo, he had a tremendous sense of humor who loved to tell stories whenever the opportunity did arise. He was the first one at the bedside of someone who was dying to the baptismal font to welcome a new born child into the catholic faith. He was ever present at all our church functions and was very supportive of our efforts to keep our parish energized and full of hope for the future. Father Leo was a man of inner as well as physical strength who could bench-press weight beyond his size. He was dedicated to the youth in all areas of sports especially football and basketball. The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame was his favorites team and he would do his best not to miss a single game. So, we laud this great priest at the age of 90, as one of integrity, honor, prayerfulness and a shining example of what it means to be a servant of God and of all of God’s people. Father Leo, you will remain in our prayers and in our hearts forever.

+Eternal Rest grant unto you, Father Leo, and let perpetual shine upon you.  Amen.
