Ponderings & Pontifications of the Pastor

         Greetings everyone!

We have some important things coming up, so mark your calendars and keep your ears open!

First, this weekend is the annual collection for THE RETIRED RELIGIOUS!  This is a very, very important collection that helps with retired sisters, brothers, priests, nuns, and other religious who have dedicated their lives to serving churches, schools, hospitals, and other institutions around the country.  Here at Blessed Sacrament, we are especially indebted to the Felician Sisters, such as Sr. Lucette, and many others who worked very hard for the People of God.  For almost all of us, our lives as Catholics have been significantly impacted by religious men and women who have shared their own faith journey and inspired many people throughout their own lives.  Please remember these brave and selfless people, especially as they get closer to retirement.  The fact is that for many years, and for many of the religious orders, adequate money was not set aside for the needs of older religious.  Please be generous for this collection and pray for the religious men and women who have inspired and helped you over the years.  Pray for many blessings on them and their respective orders, as well as an increase in vocations for all of them.  May the Holy Spirit continue to inspire devoted servants of Christ to follow in the footsteps of so many faith-filled men and women!

Finally, please mark your calendars for our Advent PARISH PENANCE SERVICE.  This will be held on Monday, December 19 at 7pm, right here in the main church.  Fr. Peter and I will be joined by our brother priests to offer the sacrament of reconciliation to all of you, so that your hearts and minds are truly ready to receive the Infant King on December 25th!  Please join us as we gather to ask God our Father for His Divine Mercy, both as a parish community, and individually in holy confession.  We hope to see you there!
