Pastor’s Note 7/5/20

Due to the anticipated heat wave this weekend, this Sunday only, July 5th, the LAWN Mass, with the altar in front of the Respect Life Garden near Father Cotter Hall, will be at 9:00 am.  Bring lawn chairs.  There will be publically accessible restrooms available in the church ONLY during and after the 9:00 am Mass.  Please plan accordingly.

The DRIVE-IN Mass this Sunday only will be at 11:00 am. You may keep the cars running on an on-and-off basis to run the car’s AC.  The Mass will be transmitted locally on FM 88.9, on your car radio. ONLY enter the parking lot from the Wendel Avenue blue building entrance side. Park every other space in a checkerboard fashion. If one has to get out of a car, remember to maintain social distancing at all times. If not possible, wear a face covering. It is OK to sit or stand next to your car, ONLY on the driver’s side.  The altar will be located in the second-story window of the Father Cotter Hall building; please park facing south, toward the church.

The 4:00 pm Mass is celebrated and recorded in the chapel with an overflow of people sitting in the main church.  The 7:30 am Mass is celebrated in the chapel.  The acoustics in the chapel are much better than in the main church.  Please follow the social distancing markers in the church aisles.  WNY entered into Phase IV of NYS re-opening; however, as of last Tuesday the churches are still at only 25% of capacity.  We still have every third pew in the church open in the church to provide over 7-feet of distance.  In the chapel, every other pew is open with 6-feet marked spacing.

Our church remains open for individual prayers seven days a week from 8 am – 5 pmWe hold Eucharistic Adoration daily 3-4 pm on the altar in the CHAPEL. The Rosary, the Chaplet, Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, and a special prayer for the healing of the nation are recited loudly for about 30 minutes at 3:00-3:30 pm, followed by a background meditation of recorded chants.  The church is air-conditioned.  All are welcome.

The parish office is open for business during the following days and times this week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and 12:30 to 2:30 pm.  The office will be closed on Monday, July 6th, in observance of Independence Day.
