Pastor’s Note 3/1/20

The season of the annual Catholic Charities Appeal continues.  We thank all supporters for their generosity, caring for the needs of many people receiving help in various ways through Catholic Charities.  When donating, please remember to include in the memo our parish number “0507”.
To help refresh the bulletin “Praying for the Sick” list, we are removing all the names from the list starting this Sunday.  At the same time, we invite people to submit or resubmit the names of the seriously chronically sick or terminally ill so that a new bulletin list will be fully “resurrected” by Easter.  It can be done by either calling the office at 834-4282 or emailing bsctonawanda@gmail.com.
The first session of the Lenten Journey Speaker Series will be held this Monday, March 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church in Kenmore. Rev. Jacek Mazur, pastor of St Mary’s and Divine Mercy Parishes in Niagara Falls, NY and co-host of the radio program Divine Mercy in My Soul, will speak on Divine Mercy and Trust.
Parish Lenten Be My Witness retreat, led by our parishioner and K-4 Faith Formation Coordinator Lucy Stanton will be held on five consecutive Thursdays at 6:30 pm, beginning this week in the Parish Center.  We invite all to participate.
This Lent and Easter season, I invite all to a weekly docu-series Christ Revealed about Our Lord Jesus Christ.  Dr. Patrick Gentempo and Gretchen Jensen are the co-hosts.  Dr. Gentempo describes it: “Christ Revealed is nine episodes, and in each episode, we have multiple people that we interview and multiple sites that we visit, and everything is directed toward the idea of the history, the evidence, and the inspiration surrounding Jesus.”  In Episode One, we interview Sean McDowell and Tisha Michelle; we visit the Garden Tomb and the Mount of Beatitudes.  Starting March 3rd, all episodes will be viewed on a large screen every Tuesday at 6:00-8:15 pm in Father Cotter Hall. There will be a 5-minute intermission at about 7:00 pm. After the movie, a short discussion will be held. Please contact me if you are interested in viewing these videos during the afternoon .
