Pastor’s Note 2/17/20

Last year we had a rare opportunity to be spiritually inspired and enriched by two sisters of the Congregation of the Sisters of Merciful Jesus, started by Father Michael Sopocko following the Diary of St. Faustina.  He was the Christ-appointed confessor of St. Faustina.  Sr. Emily and Sr.  Pawla are the founding members of that congregation and they started the first motherhouse in the US in Pittsburgh.  They will be returning to guide us in a parish mini-retreat weekend leading us in prayers, conferences, and sharing on the Feast Day of Blessed Michael Sopocko.  They will speak at all three Masses on that Saturday and Sunday as well as lead two sessions at 6:30 pm on Saturday, Feb.15th, and 2:00 pm on Sunday, Feb. 16th.  The detailed schedule of the Parish Mini-Retreat is on page 3.
The season of the annual Catholic Charities Appeal has started.  We thank all supporters for their generosity, caring for the needs of many people receiving help in various ways through Catholic Charities.  When donating, please always include our parish number “0507”, so we receive the proper credit.  Our assigned parish goal for 2020 is $34,000.
We will be updating the “Praying for the Sick” List.  To do this, we will remove all the names from the list starting this Lent.  At the same time, starting now, we invite people to submit or resubmit the names of the seriously chronically sick or terminally ill;  a new bulletin list will be fully “resurrected” by Easter.  This can be done by either calling the office at 834-4282 or emailing

Over 50 BSC parishioners made a personal public Marian Consecration last Sunday at our church.  May the Blessed Virgin send us the graces we need to get ever closer to her Son, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Please mark your calendars for two February fundraisers:
~ Ash Wednesday Fish Fry – served by our parish sponsored Boy Scout Troop 286 in the Parish Center on Feb. 26th, 4:30-8:30 pm.  The profits will support both the Scouts and our parish.

~ Ladies’ DINNER & GAME Night benefiting the future school (targeted to open Fall 2020), The School of Two Hearts, an independent K-12 school in the Roman Catholic Tradition. Saturday, February 29th 6pm; in the Parish Center.
For more details about both events, please see page 5.
