This Sunday, we finish the individual private book retreat based on the 33 Days to Morning Glory booklet by Fr. Michael Gaitley. As per the original request of our diocesan Apostolic Administrator Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger, we invite those who made the retreat and are ready to make their personal Marian Consecration to come to either the 4:00 pm or 10:00 am Masses to participate in the ceremony at the end of Mass. The Consecration is not for everyone, as some people still have doubts about the requirements, the meaning of it, and need a more in-depth understanding of it. All in God’s timing; when you are ready. One thing is for sure that making a spiritual consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary can only help in the spiritual journey towards unity with her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Last year we had a rare opportunity to be spiritually inspired and enriched by two sisters of the Merciful Jesus, started by Father Michael Sopocko following the Diary of St. Faustina. He was the Christ-appointed confessor of St. Faustina. Sr. Pawla and Sr. Emily are the first members of that congregation who started the motherhouse in the US in Pittsburgh. They will be coming back to us to guide us in a parish mini-retreat weekend leading us in prayers, conferences, and sharing on the Feast Day of Blessed Michael Sopocko. They will talk at all three Masses that Saturday and Sunday as well as lead two sessions: Saturday, February 15 at 6:00 pm and Sunday, February 16 at 2:00 pm.
The season of the annual Catholic Charities Appeal has started. Regular contributors have already received appeal letters with contribution requests. As always, we thank you for your generosity, supporting the many people in need in the WNY area; they will receive help in various forms through Catholic Charities. When donating, please always include our parish number “0507”, so we receive the proper credit. Our assigned parish goal for 2020 is $34,000.
