The Catholic Charities 2019 Appeal is in the final stretch until the end of June. Thank you for all the support given in the past or this year. If not done so yet, I encourage all to support this largest area appeal to help the needy. It is important that our parish code number “0507” is selected or marked so we get proper credit for your contribution. We are grateful to all who made donations to date, so far raising 67% of the parish’s goal of $34,000.
Our parish Faith Formation Youth Ministries are finishing their spring semester, getting ready for the summer recess and the fall season. Thank you to all who supported the most recent car wash youth ministry fundraiser allowing us to send one of the young people to the summer Youth Leadership Training camp. I encourage anyone interested in helping our youth program by becoming chaperones on monthly or so basis to contact our very capable Youth Faith Formation Coordinator Carolyn Prefontaine (949-8188). We will absolutely need volunteer help on Sunday evenings this coming fall for our parish youth faith formation youth ministry program to continue and remain successful.
Another great program our parish is blessed to offer for children is the Vacation Bible School held at Father Cotter Hall on Aug. 19-23. It is prepared, coordinated, and run with some help by our enthusiastic volunteer parishioner Lucy Stanton. Mark the dates and help spread the news.
The Church celebrates this Sunday the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. It started in the 13th century near Orvieto in Italy with a Eucharistic miracle of a bleeding host. It since was approved as a liturgical devotion and spread throughout the world to help strengthen the faith in the Real Presence of the Risen Christ in the consecrated host. All are invited to the annual Corpus Christi procession through the streets of Buffalo this Sunday, starting at 1:15 pm at St. Stan’s Parish on Peckham St. at Fillmore Ave.
