Pastor’s Note 5/26/19

The Catholic Charities 2019 Appeal continues. Thank you for all the past support and I strongly encourage all to support this year’s appeal to help the needy.  It is important that our parish code number “0507” is selected or marked so we get proper credit for your contribution.  We are grateful to all who made donations to date, raising 61% of the parish’s goal of $34,000.

A new independent Caritas Academy of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts K-12 school in the Roman-Catholic tradition based on a classical Greek, Latin, and trades curriculum is being formed in the Northtowns.  They are looking into leasing many of our former school classrooms in both the school and FCH buildings. The school would be independent from the Diocese of Buffalo and our parish, but it would collaborate in many areas and get involved in some parish liturgies and activities, including   students participation in the daily weekday Masses.  Any  parents, potential students, parishioners, and supporters may get a first peak at some of the offerings of the school, meet some of the teachers and administration, and see the model classrooms at the open house sessions.  There are two events planned to choose from on Thursday, May 23,  6:30 – 8:30 pm; Tuesday, June 11,  6:30 – 8:30 pm. The current independent Kids Kampus Day Care will continue their    operations on the first floor of the school building as before.

All parish and area youth are invited to the regional Catholic Youth Mass this Sunday, May 26th, at 5:00 pm, at the Blessed Sacrament  Church.

We warmly welcome Fr. Eric Gilhooly, a newly  ordained priest of the Legionnaire of Christ Congregation who will be celebrating his first Mass next Saturday, June 1, at 4:00 pm Sunday Vigil at our church. Fr. Gilhooly is a great nephew of our parish resident Msgr. Leo McCarthy.

Have a Happy Memorial Day Weekend,

Fr. Matt
