Pastor’s Note 5/12/19

The Catholic Charities 2019 Appeal continues. Thank you for all the past support and I strongly encourage all to support this year’s appeal to help the needy.  It is important that our parish code number “0507” is selected or marked so we get proper credit for your contribution.  We are grateful to all who made donations to date, raising 54% of the parish’s goal of $34,000.

There is a new exciting development at our parish.  A new independent Caritas Academy of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts K-12 Catholic school based on a classical and trades curriculum is being formed in the Northtowns.  They are looking into leasing many of our former school classrooms in both of the school and FCH buildings.  The school would be totally independent from the Diocese of Buffalo and our parish, but it would collaborate in many areas and get involved in some  parish liturgies and activities, including students         participation in the daily weekday Masses.  Any parents, potential students, parishioners, and supporters may get a first peak at some of the offerings of the school, meet some of the teachers and administration, and see the model classrooms at the open house sessions.  There are three events planned to choose from on Sunday, May 19th, 1 pm – 3 pm; Thursday, May 23rd,  6:30 pm – 8:30 pm;   Tuesday, June 11th,   6:30pm – 8:30 pm. Meetings start at the Father Cotter Hall Cafeteria.

We thank two Sisters of the Merciful Jesus, Sr. Emily and Sr. Paula, who lead us in the parish Easter Divine Mercy mini retreat last weekend. Their prayers and talks were very warmly received and many people were deeply inspired to grow more in the love and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus, I Trust In You.

     Have a Happy Easter.

     Fr. Matt
