Pastor’s Note 5/5/19

This Sunday, our parish will host a parish mini – Easter Divine Mercy Retreat on Sunday,     May 5th, and Monday, May 6th. A Holy Hour with a talk will be held at 3 – 4 pm on Sunday and the Chaplet and talks from 7 – 8 pm on both Sunday and Monday.  Both Sunday talks will be on the same topic of “Blessed Sopocko and Divine Mercy”, while the Monday talk will be on the “Diary of St. Faustina”.  Following the talks, people will be invited to individually venerate a true First Class relic of Blessed   Father Michael Sopocko. Two Sisters of Merciful Jesus (ZSMJ), Sr. Emily and Sr. Paula from Canada and     Poland will lead us in prayer, conference talks, and   devotions. They are members the same original       congregation started by Blessed Sopocko in Poland to fulfill the desire expressed by Jesus to St. Faustina, as she described in her Diary.  They recently started a new Motherhouse and a Divine Mercy ministry in the US in Pittsburg, PA.  They will introduce  themselves and the retreat theme at all the parish weekend Masses on May 4th and 5th.  A free will offering will be accepted.

The Catholic Charities 2019 Appeal continues. Thank you for all the past support and I strongly encourage all to support this year’s appeal to help the needy. It is important that our parish code number “0507” is selected or marked so we get proper credit for your contribution.  We are grateful to all who made donations to date, raising 54% of the parish’s goal of $34,000.

Please pray for our seven parish Confirmation Candidates scheduled to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, May 19th at 5:00 pm, at St. John the Baptist Parish in Kenmore.

Have a Happy and Healthy Easter.

     Fr. Matt
