Pastor’s Note 4/14/19

This Sunday, the Catholic Church enters into Holy Week, the most holy time of the liturgical year.  The  regional Reconciliation Service will be celebrated this Monday, April 15, at 7:00 pm at St. Andrew’s Church in Kenmore. Several area priests will be hearing confessions.  The schedule of the Easter Triduum is on page 5.  I invite and encourage all to  participate in all major liturgies each day.  The Easter Sunday liturgically extends over the eight days of the Easter Octave, culminating in the Divine Mercy Sunday.  As in the last two years, we will have a very special Divine Mercy   afternoon of prayers and liturgies celebrating the       unfathomable gift of God’s mercy for us.

The Catholic Charities 2019 Appeal Week starts this weekend. As of this writing we reached 23% of the parish’s $34,000 appeal goal.  This year it is possible to designate “100% of donation to go directly to help the needy” for those who would be more comfortable with that option.  Thank you for all the past support and I strongly encourage all to support this year’s campaign.  It is important that our parish code number “0507” is selected or marked so we get proper credit for your  contribution.

This Sunday we will celebrate a Family Mass at 10:00 am, with families involved in various aspects of the liturgy. Following the Mass our parish Faith Formation Youth Ministry invites everyone to pray with them Live Stations of the Cross in the church. A social will follow in Father Cotter Hall, hosted this month by the Parish Pastoral Council.

Our parish is blessed with many volunteer groups and individuals helping us thrive and grow in faith      together.  One group I want to mention today call    themselves “The Lords’ Gardeners”.  They come   together every Saturday morning, weather permitting, to work on beautification of our parish flower beds and    landscaping.  We all enjoy the beauty of our campus in the blooming seasons.  Any donations towards buying flowers, plants, and bushes to be planted will be greatly appreciated.  Please note in the check memo “BSC Gardens”.

     Have a Blessed Holy Week.
