The Catholic Charities 2019 Appeal continues. Thank you for all the past support and I encourage all to support this year’s campaign.
The Parish Lenten Penance Service will be held this Sunday, April 7th, at 3-4 pm during the Hour of Mercy at church, with several priests confessors.
We are blessed with a very active Faith Formation Youth Ministry at our parish. One of our youth was nominated to serve on the Diocesan Youth Board. Five parish youth attended the annual Youth Convention in Buffalo a few weeks ago. There are other special activities and opportunities through which our parish youth can grow spiritually and by extension help to grow our parish. We would love to send a few youth to the Christian Leadership Institute organized by the Diocesan Youth Department to be held at the Christ the King seminary this June. The purpose is train youth in leadership skills, which later they can bring back to the parish. The total cost is $359 per youth for a very intensive week-long experience. We are seeking sponsors willing to cover 33%-50% of the cost, as the rest would come from fundraising and youth personal commitment fees.
Last Tuesday, I went to see the movie “Unplanned” that tells the true story about the profound conversion experience of Abby Johnson, the director of a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Huston, TX. I was deeply touched by it and I would recommend all parishioners to see it very soon, as it may not be shown in the theaters much longer. Although it is rated “R”, any real violence is left to our imagination.
Have a Blessed Lent.
