Pastor’s Note December 16, 2018

The Advent Penance Service will be celebrated this  Monday, Dec. 17th at 7:00 pm, with four confessors (priests). Additional Confessions will also be heard this Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 5:30-6:00 pm in the church’s  crying room   (face-to-face). At the same time, Eucharistic Adoration will continue in the Divine Mercy Chapel. All are welcome to stay for the Benediction at 6:10 pm, followed by the evening Mass at 6:15 pm.

This month’s Family Mass is celebrated this Sunday, Dec. 16th at the 10:00 am Mass. Children will be taking part in the liturgy, including a special homily. Faith Formation   Confessions will be celebrated on the same day from 9:00-9:45 am at the chapel. Following the Family Mass all are     invited to the Parish Center for a social and an Advent-Christmas play performed by our Faith Formation children titled “12 Days of Christmas”.

This week marks a special one year anniversary of the newest parish prayer and evangelization sodality, the Legion of Mary.  They meet weekly on Wednesdays after the 6:15 pm Mass, and their membership has grown to seven  active and 14 auxiliary members.  The recent annual report given to the pastor highlights some of the ministry done,    including visiting over 120 households with homebound and sick both at homes and nursing homes, and donating poinsettias to many homebound.  They gave out hundreds of rosaries, scapulars, and medals.  We thank them for their faithful ministry and ask for God’s blessings upon them and all the other societies, organizations, and ministries also  doing a great job in our parish.

This weekend also marks the second anniversary of my assignment to Blessed Sacrament.  It has truly been a blessed time for me and I am very grateful for all the prayers and support in my ministry I receive on daily basis from many wonderful parishioners.

We welcome Sr. Lucette back to ministry after a short medical leave, right in time to be with us for the beautiful but busy Advent and Christmas Seasons.

We will have only three Masses this Christmas: 4:00 pm (Vigil, with choir and with homily for children), 10:00 pm (night), and 10:00 am (day, with choir).

     Happy Advent.

     Fr. Matt
