RCIA CORNER ….A JOURNEY TO CATHOLICISM

“CHRISTIAN LIFE MUST BE INVESTED IN JESUS AND SPENT FOR OTHERS…”

Continuing with his homily in Molfetta, Italy in April, 2018, Pope Francis emphasized the importance of carrying the Word of God to others.

Pointing to the story of the conversion of Saul, who later became St. Paul, the Pope noted how, when Saul was thrown to the ground, he was told to rise, go into the city and do what he would be asked. “The first thing to avoid,” encouraged Pope Francis, “is  staying on the ground,” stressing that a true apostle of Jesus “cannot simply get along on small satisfactions,” but must always get up and look forward. And just as Saul was told to go into the city, so each Christian is told to go; his was an emphatic call for Christians to “Risk!” He added, “We are called, in whatever situation we find ourselves, to be bearers of hope and servants of the world….”

Simply put, this is the call for the body of Christ, the family of the Church, to seek out the seekers, to encourage gently and lovingly those who are being nudged by the Spirit to become a recipient of the amazing embrace of the Catholic Church.
