News, Pastor's Note

Pastor’s E-note April 29, 2018

We congratulate Elena Hager, Isabel Hoth, Griffin Knight, Michael Rosina, Samantha Simpson, and Victoria Sujka, our six parish high school Confirmation candidates, who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Sunday, April 22.  A special Confirmation Mass was celebrated at 4:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Church in Kenmore.  Bishop Edward Grosz was the main celebrant and conferrer the Sacrament.

Similarly, congratulations to two of our parishioner children, Quinn Dio and Weston Gladysek,  who this Sunday receive their First Holy Communion at the 9:00 a.m. Mass .

May is a beautiful time when we remember all of our mothers, including the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Our Lord.  May Crowning will take place on May 6th and it will be coordinated this year by our parish Legion of Mary.  The beautifully renovated statue of Our Lady of Fatima has been placed back in the parish shrine building on Chelsea St. after the long winter recess.  We are grateful to our  parish Altar and Rosary Society for decorating and maintaining the shrine.  Special Mother’s Day Mass of   Remembrance will be offered for our living and deceased mothers on May 13th and throughout the year.  Special Mother’s Day Remembrance Memorial envelopes can be found at all entrances to the church and at the parish office.  All returned envelopes will be placed by the altar and all mothers listed will be included in special Masses and prayers in the month of May.

The Catholic Charities Drive continues this season.  If you have already contributed to Catholic Charities this year, thank you.  If not yet, I encourage you to do so soon.  Please add “0507 Bl. Sacr. Tonawanda” on your check to assure our parish gets the credit.  Thank you for your generous support to help us reach the parish goal.  We are at about 65% now.

Close to 150 families have already signed up for the Photo Directory.  Photo sessions started this past week.  There are still openings left for May.  Please consider being part of this historical booklet.  More information is on   page 5.

The completely refreshed and upgraded parish website can be accessed at the same old address:    http://www.bsacramentchurch.com.

Congratulations on yet another very successful parish Meat Raffle held on April 21st.  Great appreciation goes to all the wonderful, hard working and faithful volunteers and staff helping with this major parish annual fundraising event.
